RULE ENFORCEMENT - SELF OFFICIATED
Games are self-officiated (except for Outdoor Soccer which will be refereed by experienced Game Coordinators). Games are not refereed. Teams should be calling themselves when they make a fault and if they do not it is the opponent's responsibility. We encourage all players to play by the rules and enforce the rules with their opponents. The main role of the Game Coordinator is to setup the facility. The Game Coordinator will resolve situations when teams do not agree, in which his/her decision is final. Anyone that argues or does not comply with the Game Coordinator's decision may be deducted points from their overall standing, be suspended, and/or expelled from the league without warning or refund. For summer sports such as soccer and ultimate frisbee there may be no convener present. If there are any concerns about the behavior of an opponent they must be reported to USC.
LEAGUE GOALS AND STANDARDS - FUN, SAFETY AND SPORTSMANSHIP
It is the goal of USC to provide fun and safe adult recreational sports leagues. Fair play, safety, and sportsmanship are key values of USC. People who do not share these values, should not sign up to play with USC.
Safety and sportsmanship will be what all players, conveners, and staff must demonstrate and enforce at all times. At no time will unsportsmanlike conduct, physical, verbal and over-aggressive play and/or arguing with USC staff be tolerated.
No alcohol is permitted on the league premises or parking areas. Players who are intoxicated will be required to leave.
Any individual or team that does not comply with these standards may be deducted points/moved down a level in the overall standings, be suspended, and/or expelled from the league without a refund or warning at the sole discretion of USC. No team or player will be allowed to continue in the league that does not meet the expected level of fair play.
A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to themselves or another player including jewelry.
USC will not tolerate fighting! Fighting, or any threat to do so, will result in an automatic ejection from any game and in most cases an ejection from the league for the remainder of the season without a refund.
SPORTSMANSHIP CONCERNS AND PENALTIES
If you are not satisfied with the way a team is behaving our first recommendation is to talk to the team in a calm manner, as they may not be aware of the issue. If you are still having problems, complaints should be reported to USC by e-mail. A complaint could include an individual or team that was not fun (unsportsmanlike, too intense, aggressive) to play with and did not follow the rules and call their own violations. The captain of the team or individual who was issued the complaint will receive feedback from USC. This will come in an e-mail so it can be kept on file for USC to compare to future complaints against the same team or player. Depending on the nature of the complaint, the individual or team will receive either a warning, suspension or be expelled from the league without a refund. Actions of a violent or aggressive nature will usually result in immediate expulsion. If it is a complaint against an entire team, the team may be required to forfeit the match, and be penalized - 1 in the overall standings.
